30 June 2020Nel the month of June 2020, the national index of consumer prices for the entire community (Nic), excluding tobacco, increased 0.1% on a monthly basis and a decrease of 0.2% on an annual basis (as in the previous month). This is underlined by Istat, based on preliminary estimates. “The decline in consumer prices on an annual basis, recorded for the second consecutive month, continues to be the product of pressures that are opposed to one another: those deflationary coming from the prices of energy Goods and the rise of food products, for the care of the house and of the person. Core inflation, albeit at a slightly slower rate, is therefore the positive (+0,7%),” says the institute of statistics.
Slight rise of inflation in the eurozone in June. According to the estimates of Eurostat, the rate rises to 0.3% in the month, against the 0.1% recorded in may. Among the major countries of the euro area, inflation in Italy cala from -0,3% in may to 0.4% as of June, as well as in France (from 0.4% to 0.1%), Greece (from down 0.7% to -1,7%) and Latvia (from 0.9% of 1.1%). Among the other countries, inflation is back in Germany (from 0.5% to 0.8%), Spain (0.9% at -0,3%), Ireland (from -0,8% to-0.7%). With regard to the main components, food products, alcohol, and tobacco recorded an annual rate higher (at 3.1%, compared to 3.4% in may), followed by services (1.2% to 1.3% in may), industrial goods excluding energy (0,2%, stable compared with may) and energy (-9,4%, compared to -11, 9% in may).
