The Eu Council sanctions and the leaders of cyber-attacks from Russia, China and North Korea

July 30, 2020Il the council of the Eu has decided, for the first time, to impose sanctions as a result of cyber attacks. The restrictive measures were issued against six people and three entities – the Russian, chinese and North Korea – responsible for having committed various cyber attacks or having taken part in it.

Among these was the attempted cyber attack on Russian-to the detriment of the organisation for the prohibition of chemical weapons (Opcw) and the attack publicly known as “Wannacry”, “Notpetya” and “Operation cloud hopper”.

The sanctions imposed include the travel ban and the freezing of assets. It is also prohibited to put funds at the disposal of persons and entities in the black list.
